Movement meditation

Mindfulness Hikes

Explore the outdoors and be present to the flow of conscious awareness in and around you.  Meditative walks or 'mindfulness hikes' are a special opportunity for embodied walking, self-observation, mindful movement, reflection, lightheartedness, and building intra & interpersonal community.  


July and August 2022 dates coming soon!   


How:

  • Join one or all hikes.  
  • Background in mindfulness or yoga is unnecessary.  
  • You'll need sturdy shoes, ability to hike uphill (nothing too steep, but it is San Francisco after all) at moderate pace over the duration.  Please bring hydration, a mat or towel, snack, and appropriate attire for SF weather.  
  • Please adhere to all health protocol during the time of COVID.  


What we'll do:

1.  Meet and introduce ourselves at the start. 

2.  Set the intention for our activity. 

3.  Along the way there’ll be:

  • Periods of silence and opportunities to interact.
  • An opportunity to take-in beautiful San Francisco and encounter its unique flora & fauna and blend of nature, architecture, and art. 
  • Along the way we may practice standing, lying down, and/or sitting postures.
  • We’ll finish with some time for comments and dialogue.


Cost:

Donation based.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Please register with James by Noon on the day before the hike.  
  • These mindfulness hikes are mild to moderate out and back explorations with elevation gain from 285 – 950 feet.  All hikes are between 2 and 4.5 miles, no more than 8 persons, 1 - 2.5 hours in duration, manageable, and suitable for ages 15+. 
  • All persons must sign an 'agreement for participation' form before any hike.  Please click on the 'participation agreement' prompt above.
